Here are some FAQs and their answers:

Q) How much are classes?

A) It is my aim to make ballet affordable and accessible, hence classes are just €65 per 10 week term for 1 class a week and €95 for 2 classes.

Q) What does my child need to wear to class?

A) Pre-Ballet: Their is no uniform but they must wear ballet shoes. After that, they can wear anything from leggings and t-shirt to tights and a princess dress. Make sure they will be comfortable to move and roll around in whatever they wear.

Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet: Ballet shoes, ballet tights or socks, Marine Blue short sleeved leotard and marine blue wrap skirt. Optional white cardigan for the winter months.

Grade 1 Ballet: Ballet shoes, Black Character shoes with a Low heel, ballet tights or socks, Mulberry sleevless leotard (‘Aimee’ style)

Jazz: Split Sole Jazz shoes, Black leggings / Jazz pants, CMB Academy branded t-shirt (coming soon!).

Q) Where are classes held?

A) In Gort (the dance studio at the Swan Leisure Club at the Lady Gregory Hotel).

Q) Do the students take exams?

A) Yes but they are not compulsory. We have entered students for Royal Academy of Dance exams each year with outstanding results. At the moment Jazz class is non-syllabus so no there will be no exams but we may enter Modern ISTD exams at some point in the future.

Q) Do they perform in shows?

A) Yes. We have a show towards the end of each year and as the school grows the shows will get bigger and better! I also hope to find other performance opportunities such as competitions, charity events, parades etc.

Q) Can I sign up half way through the term?

A) Generally, yes, but this is assessed on an individual basis. It depends on what point the class is at in terms of preparation for exams or for a show. If I think it will disrupt the class or slow down the pace of the class I may suggest to wait until the next term begins. Joining in the middle of a busy term can be upsetting and off-putting for a new child and can often lower their self-confidence, therefore waiting a few weeks or months and starting afresh can often be a good way to go.

Q) What happens if I am late collecting my child?

A) Don’t worry. The children are taught not to leave the building without their parent / guardian. If they don’t see you in the hallway they will return to the studio/hall and wait inside until you arrive. So if you are late and can’t see your child, that is where they will be.

I m interested in putting my daughter in ballet. She will be 3.5 in May. When do your classes begin?

    • Hi Fiona,
Classes are Mondays 3.15 – 3.45 in the Pilates studio at the Lady Gregory. We have 5 weeks left of this term (today, then off for Easter for 2 weeks, then 4 more excluding May bank holiday) You are welcome to let her try it out whenever suits. Let me know her name and I will pop her on my list.
      Kind regards,
